How to scan a USB drive using Microsoft Defender

1. Plug in your USB drive

   • Insert your USB drive into the computer.

2. Open Windows Security

   • Type Windows Security into the Windows Search bar and press Enter¹.

3. Navigate to Virus & Threat Protection

   • Click on Virus & threat protection¹.

4. Select Scan Options

   • Click on Scan options¹.

5. Choose Custom Scan

   • Select the Custom scan option¹.

6. Start the Scan

   • Click on the Scan now button¹.
   • A pop-up will show the drives available for scanning. Check the boxes next to the USB devices you want scanned².

Remember, this process will only scan specific files or folders. If you want to scan the whole drive, you might need to move all the files on the drive into a single folder and use the custom scan to check the whole folder¹.
